Jan
and Mike come from diverse, eclectic backgrounds,
preparing them perfectly to be your hosts. Both
have warm, friendly personalities making you feel
like old friends.
Mike's role within
the inn is maintenance and grounds keeping in
addition to maintaining his own full time small
business, "Ware Street Restoration"--his experience
includes building contracting, restoring classic
automobiles, diving, commercial fishing, and fire
fighting. He is also an avid cyclist and runner and
is quite the sports enthusiast.
Jan acts as full
time innkeeper and host. She comes from a
background in politics. Twenty years with the
United States Senate and additional years as a
consultant and lobbyist at the State House in
Augusta, Maine has prepared her diplomatically and
as a people oriented problem-solver. She is an
award-winning cook and her skills in the kitchen are
a delightful plus! Jan is currently actively
involved in committee work for the local Chamber of
Commerce and serves as Chair-Elect on their Board of
Directors; is past President of the Lewiston-Auburn
Rotary Club, is active in Rotary International's
District 7790, she is also a member of Maine
Congressman Mike Michaud's Small Business Advisory
Team, a member of the Maine Innkeepers Association,
the Professional Association of Innkeepers
International, founding past-President of the Inns
of Central Maine, is a former member of the Board of
Directors of Southern Maine Technical College's
Hospitality Education Program, serves on the
Board of the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth
Council, and is an active member of USM/LA College
Corporate Partners.
Maxwell--the
Inn's "Official Greeter"! This little guy is the
first one to make it to the door when you arrive. If
anyone can make you feel welcome, Maxwell can. He
came home with Jan and Mike at 11 weeks old in early
2000 and has grown up greeting guests and basking in
the attention he gets as their surrogate pet.
And
this is Sadie! Jan and Mike brought her home at 11
weeks old in July of 2001. She's Maxwell's half
sister (they share the same dad) and has become his
constant companion. Maxwell is training Sadie to be
the Inn's second string Greeter! She's a little love
bug and enjoys the attention of our guests as much
as he does. Sadie is a wonderful addition to the
Inn's family! Maxwell and Sadie are both Shih Tzus
weighing about 14 pounds.
At the
Ware Street Inn you will find
yourself at a home away from home.
It's always nice to come home again! |
